SKIING in ZAKOPANE:

Zakopane is located very close to Tatra Mountains. There are nearly 30 thousand inhabitants in our town. In the main, pedestrian street Krupowki you will find nearly all restaurants, discos, clubs and pubs as well as shops and banks. The ski slopes are located around the centre. So in fact it is not possible to find accommodation in very centre but next to the ski slope:-). I do suggest our clients to stay in the centre - close to Krupowki street and to try different slopes every day. To get to the slopes one can take a bus or minibus (if your accommodation is located close to the bus stop) or private taxi / minibus for groups. Local transfers are rather cheap - aprox 4-6 Euros for taxi and 8-10 Euros for minibus. I've marked on the map below the best slopes in Zakopane. Kasprowy Wierch is a best place for advanced skiers and snowboarders. Nosal and Szymoszkowa are the slopes for intermediate skiers and snowboarders as well as for the beginners. Koziniec /old fashioned Tbar lift/, Ugory and Pod Krokwia are easy slopes for beginners only. Gubalowka used to be lovely slope for intermediate but the main slope is closed for the skiers and there is only short Tbar lift open on the top clearing. There are also a few very easy slopes on the top of Gubalowka, along the very popular walking path. Another good ski slope for advanced and intermediate skiers is Harenda. This is the only one ski centre in Zakopane where you can get the ski passes - for 3hrs, half a day or 1 up to 7 days. On the other slopes you pay per each run - which is a good solution for beginners but an expensive option for advanced skiers. To get to Kasprowy Wierch you have to buy tickets for the cable car - the best idea is to pay a bit more and buy this ticket in advance (you can book one in our office..) and when you get to the top you can buy a day or half a day ski pass. In my opinion /Iam an advanced and experienced skier and ski intructor/ Zakopane is a very good destination for the beginners, for the families with children who likes to learn skiing and for those who likes to ski a bit in the morning and have some fun in the restaurants and clubs in the evening. I do not recommend my home town for those advanced skiers or snowboarders who wants to ski all day and are planning to stay here longer then 3-4 days becouse you will be tired even of Kasprowy Wierch with it's only two great slopes. There are also ski centres in the neighbouring villages: in Bialka Tatrzańska, Male Ciche and Witow. I will prepare descriptiones of those slopes soon.
