.:Frequently Asked Question:
???Being able to get reasonable flights from our local airport to Krakow this Summer, I am at a loss as to how we can travel from said city to Zakopane. Non of the travel sites or books we have looked at (and we have searched many!) give this vital piece of information. Incidentally, we do not intend to hire a car. Perhaps that is where we are going wrong! Anyway, can someone out there please advise. Thanks in anticipation. Ann
question from TripAdvisor
The cheapiest option is to take a fast train from the airport (you can walk to the station about 800m passing the bus stop on the way or take a shutle which stops just in front of the international arrivals section) to the Karkow main station and then a public bus from the bus station which is located next to the railway station. There are the buses nearly every 20 minutes from 7am till 10pm. All together will cost about 5 EURO and takes about 3-4 hours. The easiest way is to order a private transfer in our office (Prices: 1-3 persons 270PLN; 4-7 prs - 320 PLN; 8-14 prs - 370 PLN and 15-18 persons - 450 PLN).
???We are thinking of going to Zakopane to ski, having been several times before just to visit.
We are intermediate skiers (but not off-piste) and wonder what the skiing is like there. I get the impression that Zakopane lacks the infrastructure for good, varied skiing but am willing to be convinced otherwise so I am hopeful of getting advice from several people 'in the know'. We normally ski in France or Switzerland - are we likely to be very disappointed with a couple or three days skiing in Zakopane? -(We are aware of the queues for the cablecar up to Kasprowy - is that the only good intermediate run?)
Would welcome all opinions.
question from TripAdvisor
Zakopane is a nice destination for the intermediate skiers. We can recommend the following slopes: Szymaszkowa in the city center; Witow and Male Ciche - both about 15 km far from the centre; Bialka Tatrzanska - large ski complex about 20km far from Zakopane.
??? Hi,
We're coming to Zakopane in December after Xmas and are hoping to go skiing - fingers crossed for snow! Does anyone know if we need to book ski equipment or can we just turn up and sort it out when we arrive? Thanks.
question from TripAdvisor </div>
There are so many ski rentals in Zakopane that we do not think that booking in advance is necessary but the New year period is very busy... One of the biggest rentals belongs to Nosal ski school:

???I am planning the winter holidays in Zakopane - which is the best airport to fly into for?.
The best airport to fly into is Krakow Balice or Poprad (Slovakia). Katowice Pyrzowice airport is situated nearly 200 km far from Zakopane and the
bus/train conection is not the best. We arrange private tranbsfers (from Krakow or Poprad 270 PLN/ 1 -3 prs but from Katowice 600 PLN/ 1 - 6 persons).
